I began working with Academic Coaching Services (ACS) during my sophomore year of high school, and Mr. Coakley and his team have been a semi-permanent fixture in my academic and professional lives ever since.
In what can be a complicated undertaking for both parents and students, Mr. Coakley helped me and my family navigate the college (and financial aid) application process to an extent that exceeded mere tutoring. I worked with ACS on PSAT, SAT, and ACT prep, and with drafting my college essays; the personalized instruction helped me earn National Merit Scholarship consideration and a perfect score of 36 in one sitting on the ACT.
I sought out Mr. Coakley's assistance while I was a student at Duke University as well. Mr. Coakley reviewed my cover letter and resume for my application to become a manager for the Duke Men's Basketball team in my freshman year, and he did the same when I was applying to various jobs in my senior year in college.
I graduated from Duke in May 2017 and began work as a Project Analyst at Mintz Levin in Boston. The position is part of a longstanding program at the firm catering to recent graduates interested in a future career in law. With a goal toward law school, I once again reached out to ACS in the summer of 2017. I worked one-on-one with Marcello for LSAT prep (scored a 176 in one sitting on the LSAT) and spent many weeks with Mr. Coakley discussing ideas for my law school essays. Although still waiting on more decisions before I decide where I will begin school in Fall 2019, I gained admission so far to Stanford, Columbia, U Chicago, Duke, Penn, and Harvard Law schools among others.
